Driven by Passion. Defined by Youth.
MediDebate was founded with a clear, urgent purpose: to give teenagers a powerful voice in their own health and well-being.
Navigating health, medicine, and wellness as a young person can often feel overwhelming — filled with dense clinical jargon or misleading trends online. We believe teens deserve health content that is not only scientifically sound and engaging, but created by youth who genuinely understand their lived experiences.
Meet the Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Elizabeth Koo
Hi! I’m an 11th-grade student with a deep-rooted passion for medicine, healthcare journalism, and youth engagement.
My journey into health communication began at the intersection of leadership and research. Serving as an editor for both local and high school medical journals taught me the art of rigorous editorial standards and clear storytelling. Beyond the page, shadowing physicians directly in clinical environments gave me a front-row seat to the realities of healthcare, patient needs, and the life-changing impact of empathetic medicine.
Driven to address critical challenges facing my peers, I authored a published article focusing on teen depression — exploring the nuanced mental health pressures young people navigate today. That experience made one thing clear: teenagers don’t just need health information; they need a platform that speaks directly to them, amplifies their perspectives, and encourages constructive debate.
Our Mission
At MediDebate, we bridge the gap between complex medical topics and everyday teen life. From exploring bioethics and cutting-edge digital health tools to addressing mental wellness and skincare trends, our platform empowers high schoolers to:
- Stay Informed: Access clear, research-backed articles tailored to teen health topics.
- Find Their Voice: Participate in meaningful discussions about health, science, and ethics.
- Take Ownership: Make informed, confident choices about their physical and mental health.
“Health isn’t just a subject to study — it’s a dialogue to lead. MediDebate is here to ensure our generation has a seat at the table.”
